Russians Travel in Sweden With Direct Ferry

More Russians are pursuing vacation travel in Sweden thanks to a new ferry service between St. Petersburg and Stockholm that began operating on April 4th. The ferry can accommodate about 2,400 passengers, and runs twice a week. Russians are not traditionally a nation of savers, and when their economy is booming as it is now, they tend to spend the money on travel among other things.

They are choosing Sweden for the culture, historical sights and natural beauty of the country, as well as the tax-free shopping. The typical Russian traveler to Sweden is an educated tourist who wants to visit cultural sites rather than sun worship on a tropical beach. Many travelers come from Moscow, and they often bring their families to visit kid-friendly attractions like Junibacken. Russian couples are usually more interested in the shopping and nightlife that Sweden has to offer.
